Crude Oil prices hit a record-year high of $46 per barrel

Crude oil prices hit a year-record high of $46 a barrel yesterday, giving Nigeria a buffer of $8 over its $38 a barrel 2016 budget benchmark, a feat, which it has not attained since January.
Specifically, Brent crude rose by 77 cents from a session low this morning to hit $46 a barrel by 7.50am UK time, while the US, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were up by 19 cents from $43.62 to $44.37 a barrel.

Swedish group Completes acquisition of South African Lubricant Company

Swedish lubrication systems company SKF has been approved by the relevant authorities to take over South Africa-based lubrication system suppliers Lincoln Lubricants.

The Gothenburg-based company’s transaction is considered to be complete and it now operates across 130 countries and has included Lincoln Lubricants as one of its more than 15 000 distribution channels.

Modular Refinery Project receives Host Community backing.

The Leaders of the Onisiwo Island near Takwa Bay, Lagos, where the proposed modular refinery of Integrated Oil and Gas Limited will be located, have now backed the project.
At a public forum in Lagos, a leader of the baales and other members of the communities, Lateef Akinsode,  condemned the petitions against the project.

In a communiqué after the stakeholders’meeting, the communities gave their support to the construction of the refinery. A resolution was reached between integrated oil and gas and the communities.

• ILSAC : International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee
• SAPS : Sulphated Ash, Phosphorous, Sulphur
• OEM : Original Equipment Manufacturer
• SAE : Society of Atumotive Engineers

While these associations classify different oils (Motor and gear oil) according to their specifications, some oils may contain either ACEA or API or both certification.
